Phoenix, AZ (Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013) – Real Phoenix has grown accustomed to trailing late in games. Saturday night was no different as the Texas Strikers were leading Real 5-4, going into the 4th quarter. Real looking for win number 4 then turned up the pressure and scored 6 goals en route to a 10-6 victory. The 10 goals is now the highest goals scored for Real on the season.

“For some reason when we are down from behind we play with more urgency,” said Captain Randy Soderman. “We started pressuring and when we found out when we pressured they were not as good as past teams and we took advantage of that.”

Real started off the game scoring 3 quick goals against a Texas team that looked unorganized in the first minutes of the first quarter. In what appeared to be the beginning of a easy victory Texas the reorganized and a few mental mistakes by Real allowed Texas to come back in the first quarter and then tie up the game at 3-3, in the second quarter.

At the start of the third quarter Texas then scored two more goals within the first minute giving them the lead at 5-3. One of the glaring issues that was plaguing Real in the game was the lack of defense which is surprising for Real as the have usually relied on their defense to stay in games.

“We just started to come together as a team, we sometimes have trouble playing with the lead,” said Heath Creager.

Real came together when veteran defender Ryan Hays started to emerge as a leader, slowing down the game and controlling the ball. Which in turn eliminated the counter attack that gave Texas the lead.

One goal by Ryan in the third quarter tied the game and another by him gave Real the lead at the start of the 4th quarter. After that Real then looked unstoppable.

Texas pulled the goalie late in the 4th quarter, but a open net goal by Creager, his first of the season, put the game on ice giving Real the victory.

Next game for Real is on Saturday when they host Mexico Toros at Arizona Sports Center. Game starts at 8pm and is located on Pinnacle Peak and 35th avenue, North Phoenix.
