PEORIA, Ariz. - Looking for a diamond in the rough amongst the local talent player pool, Phoenix FC held a two-day open tryout at Pioneer Park in Peoria this past weekend.

Over 100 players participated in the two-day event, which kicked off on Saturday, and as expected the range of quality and talent was all over the place. Players ranged from City of Tempe COED League Division 5 to potential professionals. Head Coach David Robertson and general manager Rui Bento were in attendance while a handful of Phoenix FC players: David Paul, Jose Ramos, Devon Grousis, served as referees and coaches during the 11 vs. 11 scrimmage matches.

Phoenix FC’s season kicks off on March 30th on the road against Rapids Reserves, before the Wolves make their home debut on April 12th against OKC Energy FC.

  1. What about other talent? Seems like the rest of the Use are ahead of us, and last year’s lo n g ball style is not going to cut it.

Don’t know. It’s hard covering a team that has yet to even put the 2014 season schedule on their website.
