Hot! Official Release: PHX Monsoon Announce Coaching Change

Phoenix, AZ (Friday, June 1, 2012) -  The PHX Monsoon are pleased to announce that Manuel De Jesus Arias has joined the team as the new head coach. Joining Manny will also be Oscar Rene Guardado who will work as the Athletic Trainer. Both coaches have numerous professional soccer licenses and bring years of soccer experience to the club.

Manuel De Jesus Arias also known as “Profe. Manny” was born in El Salvador, and he played professionally in El Salvador from 1971-1983 for teams; Baygon FC, Roble FC, Santa Clara De Apopa FC, Sensuntepeque FC and Universidad De El Salvador. Manny moved to Los Angeles in 1983 and played for played for a few semi-pro teams in L.A. from 1983-1997.

After his playing career was over Manny moved to Arizona where he has worked as a club director, founder, head coach and trainer. Manny has helped establish local soccer clubs such as Chivas USA, Atlas FC Academy, Barcelona FC and Estudantez AZ Clube Do Futebol. He has also coached Semi-Professional teams Sahuaros FC and Women Semi-Professional team Arizona HeatWave.

“Coach Arias brings lots of experience to the team,” said PHX Monsoon owner Adrian Quintero “he has coached at this level before.”

Manny also has had to opportunity to train oversees with FC Barcelona the past two years to attend a VIP coaching course designed and presented by Barcelona’s Academy Staff. Manny was instructed on the fundamentals of Barcelona Philosophy of understanding and playing the game.

Manny also holds many professional coaches licenses; Approved by FIFA and Locally by The United States Soccer Federation:

Athletic trainer Oscar Rene Guardado has played semi-pro since 1984, starting in L.A. before moving over to Arizona. Oscar has also worked as a trainer for the past 15 years, on many different projects. Teaching soccer fundamentals utilizing the “ T.T.P.P.” method of the game based on USSF and FIFA guidelines. Developing players natural skills and passion for the sport.

He has worked for Arizona Aztecs Soccer Club,  Gilbert Soccer Youth Soccer Program,  Desert View Arsenal Soccer Academy, FC Barcelona and more.

Licenses Oscar has are:

State “E” Coaching Certificate License by US Youth Soccer Federation, USSF, FIFA and Arizona Youth Soccer Association.

Certificate Of Qualify Trainer by California State Soccer Association C.S.S.A.  Certificate Of Coaches/Trainers From NFHS Arizona Chapter for Youth Soccer

“The Monsoon will finish our season and beginning in September will begin to scout players and look for a location where our team can play our matches next season,” said Adrian. “We are beginning to establish a new partnership with a local soccer academy that will create enough funding to operate our program.”

The next home game for the Monsoon will be on June 16, when they take on Santa Clarita FC.

    Once the franchise is sold to investors then we will see viable changes. Until that time we will see the same dog and pony show from the current owner.
