Soccer fans in the Valley of the Sun have been anxiously waiting for a sign of life from Phoenix FC, and on Thursday, January 16th, 2014, the Wolves ended their 78 day silence.
In a team release, Phoenix FC announced that Head Coach David Robertson and his technical staff will oversee an open tryout that has been scheduled for February 8th and 9th at Pioneer Park in Peoria, Arizona. The tryout will take place over this two-day period and participating players will be receive a free lunch on Saturday along with a t-shirt for a $125 fee and a chance to sign their first professional contract.
“We’re excited to host tryouts for our second season,” Robertson said in the team release. “I look forward to seeing the undiscovered talent and hopefully give opportunities to fulfill some dreams of becoming a professional soccer player.”
The weekend will include fitness tests, drills, and 11v11 scrimmage. Players who stand out over the weekend will be invited back to participate in Phoenix FC’s preseason and possibly earn a spot on the first team.
Walk-up registrations will not be accepted and players must register through Phoenix FC’s website by January 31st.
Earlier this week, the tryout information was accidental leaked on adultsoccerblog.com and was promptly taken down hours later. AZKicksit confirmed that the information listed was legit.
