Monsoon lose to Fullerton Rangers 4-1
(Saturday, June 9, 2012) – A new change in the coaching staff couldn’t help out the Phoenix Monsoon, as they lost to Fullerton Rangers 4-1 on Saturday.
The Fullerton Rangers controlled the pace of the first half, constantly sending players up to help out the attack. After numerous chances against the Monsoon goal, the Rangers were able to break through when Elders Roldan started his attack 25 yards out. beat three Monsoon players and finished the move off with a beautiful left-footed shot to the opposite side of the net.
After a promising first half, things quickly turned in to the nightmare that the Monsoon has become accustomed to this season. The Rangers continued to apply pressure and pounded the Monsoon goal, and in the 48th minute the Monsoon defense had a breakdown, as Elders Roldan grabbed his second goal of the match from a cross.
The Rangers then grabbed another goal in the 51st minute.
The Monsoon were finally able to put some points up on the board when Jesus Sepulvera scored in the 69th minute. With some points on the board the Monsoon tried to push forward to chip away at the Rangers’ lead. The Rangers countered with another goal in the 81st minute, sealing the 4-1 victory.

This is the second time the Monsoon have lost to the Fullerton Rangers
My Thoughts: After watching film of the game, this is the best the Monsoon have looked, but it will be very hard to the team as they try to finish the rest of the season with players ages 17-19. The loss puts the Phoenix Monsoon at 0-6 for the season
